Canards

Waterloo Rocketry’s canard system provided active aerodynamic stability by using forward-mounted control surfaces to adjust the rocket’s flight path in real time. The project involved controls development with LQR and Kalman filtering and hardware implementation on an STM32-based embedded platform. By integrating sensor feedback and predictive control, the canards were able to dynamically correct deviations during ascent, improving overall flight stability.
